Bernd Schanzenbaecher is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of EBG Capital, a Zurich based asset management boutique focussed on management and advisory of private equity investments in the environmental space (timberland, farmland, cleantech). He is an acknowledged leader in Sustainability with over 20 years of experience promoting sustainability in business practices, financial markets and international public policy. Prior to EBG Capital, Bernd was Global Co-Head of Credit Suisse's Environmental Business Group (EBG) were he led the implementation of the EBG strategy in clean tech and natural resources. Until 2007, Bernd was Global Head of Sustainability Affairs at Credit Suisse. He played a critical role designing and launching the groundbreaking responsAbility Microfinance Mutual Fund in 2002. As a Lead Author he contributed to the Chapter on "Impacts of Climate Change on Financial Services" of the IPCC Third Assessment Report. IPCC won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Prior to joining Credit Suisse Group in 1998, Bernd was the Economic Affairs Officer with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Geneva, Switzerland and in Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a Master in Agronomy and a PhD in Agricultural and Ressource Economics from University of Hohenheim (Germany).
Bernd is a member of the Advisory Board of Ariya Capital, a company focused on private equity investments in the cleantech space in Africa. He is a member of the BoD and investment committee of the Sustainable Earth Forestry Fund. |
